Scenarios that Lifting Magnets for Steel Product are Not Applicable to

Lifting magnets for steel load are not omnipotent. There are the following working conditions when the lifting magnets are not available.

1. Clamp steel load with large air gap. Recently, there was a customer who asked whether our lifting magnets could absorb 100KG steel products with a 5mm cardboard in between the magnet and the product. The default air gap of our lifting magnets is 2mm. If we want to absorb products with 5mm’s air gap, the magnetic permeability depth should be larger, as well as the magnetic field strength. This means that the cost will increase in a geometric way. In consideration of the cost and economy, we suggest you try other material handling tools.

2. High temperature environment. Some customers have high ambient temperature or working environment. So far, the highest working temperature of the rare earth materials inside the lifting magnet is 200℃. If the temperature is very high, but it will not be conducted into the magnet, then it is OK. However, it should be taken into account that the magnetism will still be losing as time goes by. There are also places where the workpiece is welded, and the magnet and the welding point should not be too close. If they are too close to each other, there will be welding slag or high temperature conduction to the interior of the lifting magnet. Hence, thermal insulation treatment is required for such working conditions.

3. Can the working cycle be 3 seconds? When lifting magnets used as grippers on automated material handling equipment, say a robotic gantry system or an industrial robot arm, cycle is important.
The time required for the magnetization and demagnetization is generally about 0.6 seconds. And it will cause internal heating and then abnormalities in the case of high frequently “MAG” and “DEMAG”. Now the cycle of our magnets can be controlled to about 6 seconds, which is leading in the industry in China. However, I suggest that you give me some time for the permanent magnet under the 3-second working condition.

4. Can your lifting magnet be applicable to non-ferromagnetic materials? Answer: sorry, we cannot help. Please search for other material handling devices.
