What to Consider When Choosing a Robotic Gripper
Robot end effectors, especially magnetic grippers, are widely used in automated manufacturing. It can improve work efficiency and reduce labour intensity. But what do you need to consider when choosing a robotic gripper?
Things you need to consider when choosing a magnetic gripper:
-
Magnetic force.
The suction force is an important indicator of the performance of magnetic gripper. The suction force depends on the magnetic force and the area of the magnet. The correct suction force must be selected according to the actual application requirements to ensure that the robot is able to pick up and transport workpieces in a stable manner.
-
Shape of work piece.
Magnetic force only works when it has sufficient contact area with ferrous material. Hence, we will design you flat grippers for steel plates, curved grippers for round bars or tubes, and V-shaped magnets for angle steel. The roughness of the surface and the coating of the workpiece also affect the magnetic effect, the flatter the surface the better the adsorption effect.
-
Material.
Of course, the prerequisite for any use of magnets is that the workpiece must be magnetically conductive. If the material is not magnetically conductive but you still want to use a magnet for handling, you can try placing the item to be handled in a magnetically conductive steel container.
-
Working environment temperature.
You need to know that high temperature will affect the magnet, usually the suitable working environment temperature is between -10-60 degrees. If the working environment temperature is higher than 60 degrees, we recommend a high temperature resistant magnet.
-
Operation system of robotic gripper.
By connecting the power control unit of the magnetic gripperto the robot, the robot can automatically control the magnetising and demagnetising actions of the magnetic gripper (corresponding to the pick and place actions of the robot). The electro-permanent magnet requires only a momentary power supply, so our electro-permanent magnetic grippers can assist the robot to complete a work cycle in seconds.
-
Safety.
Generally, the accidental drop of steel occurs due to the power failure of the electro-magnet, but since HVR MAG uses electro-permanent magnet which requires no power to maintain the magnetic force during the lifting process, you can avoid the accidental drop of steel with our magnetic grippers.
-
Maintenance cost of robotic gripper.
When choosing a robotic gripper, you also need to consider maintenance costs and intervals. If tools need to be repaired or replaced frequently, this not only increases costs but can also delay product delivery.
